The race for the Bayelsa West Senatorial election is fast approaching especially as the coronavirus pandemic scourge seems to be dousing a bit. As it stands, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson who is most favoured by his constituents to represent Bayelsa West in the Nigerian Senate
The ghosts which have surfaced to haunt the former Governor's Senatorial ambition are vague and ambiguous in nature. This is so true because one, many of the All Progressive Congress, APC members from Bayelsa West Senatorial district, will fight tooth and nail to ensure that the former Governor of Bayelsa State does not emerge victorious in the forthcoming Senatorial election. This huge hindrance from the major opposition party APC, has kept the enthusiastic and zealous former Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson
Another fear of the unknown which has been tormenting the former Governor of Bayelsa State from having beautiful sleep and dreams in recent times, is caused by a staunch PDP member Chief Fanama, who was a two time Bayelsa State house of Assembly Member from 2003 to 2007. Chief Fanama had also thrown his hat into the race for the Senate seat of Bayelsa West Senatorial district, causing ripples and anxieties in the Senatorial district, especially in the camp of the ex-governor of Bayelsa State Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson.
The drums of support that the former Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson have been enjoying so far from his constituents especially, is becoming a fleeting mirage following the adamant stance of Chief Fanama to contest the Senate seat with the former Governor of Bayelsa State, and this decision by Chief Fanama to contest the Senatorial race has a way of putting pins into the flying balloon of the ex-governor of the State because, Chief Fanama is actually not a pushover in Bayelsa West politics, but he is definitely a force to be reckoned with as far as Bayelsa West politics is concerned.
There is no doubt that Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson is highly favoured to clinch the upcoming Senatorial election for the National Assembly, but clinching the coveted Senate seat is not as easy as it is being speculated by praise singers and faithfuls of the ex-governor of Bayelsa State who believe that the former Governor has done enough deserving of his elevation to the Senate House, but the die has been cast and we all know that the contest would be keenly contested.
Thus, it will be a sorry story for the former Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson to believe his pedigree and money can sway the scale of voters to his side, without doing some rigorous campaigning to buy the hearts and minds of the Bayelsa West people because the search for a reputable candidate that can withstand the clout and mouth of Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson by the All Progressive Congress, APC can be done using a two-prong fork approach.
One, by sponsoring an APC member from Bayelsa West Senatorial district to contest against the former Governor and two, the APC can also support a PDP candidate to stand firm to contest against the former Governor, in this second option this is where Chief Fanama of the PDP comes into the picture. The die is cast for the former Governor of Bayelsa State as it relates to his Senatorial ambition, if he fails to do the needful in swaying voters to his side, because many are them who would rather die than see the ex-governor emerge as the Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial district in the National Assembly.
