On Thursday, the 3rd day of February, a trailer driver lost control at Ogbor Hill (WaterSide) Bridge in Aba, Abia state, and rammed into a busy trade centre.
Reports show that the accident involved a 40-feet container with textile materials .
Ten people have been confirmed dead and others sustained injuries.
Police and men of the state Transport Management Scheme, otherwise known as TIMAS, were seen alongside other people trying to assist the victims.
Meanwhile, the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed the immediate closure of the abattoir/cattle market and the Ahia Adele market. The closure was disclosed in a press release signed by the State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, John Okiyi Kalu, and forwarded to DAILY POST on Thursday. It says, "all those currently doing business in the above markets, abAdeler should immediately relocate to the following locations; New Omuma Uzor Abattoir in Ukwa West, and Good morning Market, Aba, for those currently in Ahia Udele..."
