Today the Minister of Education Angie Motshega addressed the Nation on when schools will be opening. The suspense was starting to get on the nerves of student and parents has they waited on the Minister to let them know when schools will be opening, since last week Thursday.
The Minister said: “Our key guiding principles are the safety of learners and school workers, it has been finalised that schools will actually be opening on the 1st of June for the Grade 7’s and Grades 12’s, all provinces will receive teachers on the 25th of May to allow time for PPE deliveries, and she further urges parents to work with schools regarding learners with underlying conditions in order to make sure that they are well taken care of.
The Minister said that all children will be screened daily before getting in the school yard and a class of over 60 learners will be spilt into 3 classes and teachers who are teaching grade 11 downwards will be expected to help with the grade 12”. This is not what a lot of parents and learners expected but it is the government’s final decision.
